Conference "Graduation"

person wearing graduation capHats off to all of this year's attendees, speakers, sponsors and planning partners for making "summer school" such a success!

June's three-day conference was the culmination of many months of planning and coordinating. Wilson's campus hosted more than 250 attendees from all across Pennsylvania -- and beyond! -- who chose from three workshops, 32 sessions, the keynote and awards presentation, two free community events and a networking reception. We presented 26 awards to projects that excelled at empowerment, transformation and revitalization.

Bill Fontana, accepting the F. Otto Haas Award for outstanding individual achievements in historic preservation, said "the community revitalization community in Pennsylvania and the historic preservation community have tended to hold hands and dance on occasion, but we’ve never really embraced. [T]he time has come for us to embrace. We need to pool our efforts together. We live in a time of too few resources to be doing things separately." The conference provides an opportunity for people with experience and expertise in a range of fields to come together to share knowledge and resource recommendations to the benefit of the commonwealth. Together, as a united community, we can continue to advocate for enhancements to important tools such as the PA historic preservation tax credit and the Keystone Communities program and use preservation to enhance the lives of all Pennsylvanians.

Thank you for your contribution to the success of this year's "summer school" conference. (We'd very much appreciate your feedback and ideas as we embark on planning the 2020 conference! Click here for our quick survey, Survey will close on July 31.)
